Follow up used to match credit card bonuses if you applied within 90 days of the highest bonus, that policy changed sometime in 2020. Now they generally only match Chase-branded cards, not combo cards like United or Marriott. Even the dates of the matches seem arbitrary. Chase has just increased the sign-up bonus at Chase Sapphire Reserve card up to 150,000 points.
When you ask to be matched, customer service reps state that you must have applied by 4/20 to qualify for a match with the highest bonus. These iterations are not always reliable, but all data points seem to back up this date:
It doesn’t seem to matter if you search for the match via text or secure phone. I think it’s a shame that Chase has switched to this new system. It was nice to know that you could apply for a bonus and qualify for a higher bonus if it increased within a reasonable time frame. Chase has also changed the rules regarding eligibility on this card. You can read the matching rules for each card issuer here.
