American Airlines blocks Saver award flights within 144 hours of departure

American Airlines appears to be blocking nonstop fare flights within 144 hours of departure. Additionally, it looks like American Airlines is effectively charging a fee as flights get closer to departure. For example JFK ->LAX J (as denoted by Minimal Perspective95):

  • 51,000 miles for the next five days
  • 46,500 miles for the next five days
  • 42,000 miles for the next five days
  • 40,000 miles after that

It’s not a big surprise as usually the cash price goes up as the flights get closer. Still very frustrating, especially for those who accumulated Alaska miles for these types of flights.

Hats off to him In agreement
