American Express has DESIGNATED an acquisition of TheFork in an out-of-the-box deal with Tripadvisor worth $700 million. Earlier this year Tripadvisor announced that it was exploring strategic alternatives to TheFork. TheFork has 50,000 restaurants in 11 European countries.
Before American Express has acquired Resy ($200 million) & Tock ($400 million). Earlier this year American Express DESIGNATED would turn Tock into Resy. The American Express dining chain will now have over 75,000 reservation locations following the acquisition of TheFork. The acquisition is expected to close before the end of 2026 and will continue to operate under TheFork’s existing management team (this leads me to believe that TheFork will not be included in Resy).
American Express recently announced that it would be eligible to use Resy Credits from Platinum & Gold card restaurants must be shown as ‘eligible for the Resy loan on the Resy website or the Resy app’.
