eBay sent out an email that they are discontinuing the sale of eBay gift cards. They can stay temporarily in stores. Nothing changes for existing gift cards and they will never expire.
Kind of weird why they won’t sell gift cards. Selling them to retail stores costs them a percentage, but selling direct from eBay is a bigger surprise that they would discontinue.
Beginning August 3, 2026, eBay will no longer sell physical or digital eBay gift cards online. For a limited period, physical eBay gift cards will remain available for sale at select stores.
If you already have an eBay gift card, you can continue to use your eBay balance as you do today. In the US, gift card balances do not expire.
If you return an item, we may still offer you the option to select an eBay gift card as your refund option.
