Citi Sends Survey on Citi Strata Premier Changes ($195 Annual Fee & More Benefits)

Citi has sent out a survey to some Citi Strata Premier cardholders about possible changes to the card. Each survey seemed to have minor changes, but the main point was an increase to an annual fee of $195 (up from $95) and increased benefits.

The Y version of the card offered the following:

  • The card earns the following fees:
    • 10x points: on hotels, car rentals and attractions when booked through Citi Travel
    • 4x Points: On Flights when booked through Citi Travel
    • 4x Points: At restaurants during Citi Nights (Friday and Saturday, 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM ET), up to $25,000 in spending per year
    • 2x points: At restaurants at all other times
    • 3x Points: On Flights and Hotels when you book directly with the airline or hotel
    • 3x Points: On selected transits such as car rentals, ferries, commuter rail, taxis/limousines/car services, passenger rail, bridges and tolls, parking lots/garages, bus routes
    • 2x points: In supermarkets
    • 2x Points: At gas and electric vehicle charging stations
    • 1x Points: On all other purchases
  • Statement loans
    • $120 TSA PreCheck / Global Entry Credit every four years
    • $100 brag credit
    • Two free airport lounge passes
    • Hotel credit:
      • Get a $150 credit on Citi Travel hotel bookings (minimum 2 nights and $75 per year) OR
      • $200 hotel credit on Citi Travel Reserve Collection bookings (minimum 2 nights and $100 per year)
    • Dining Credit: Receive a $100 credit, applied at checkout, at select restaurants ($50 semi-annually)
  • 300 bonus points when you make 5 or more digital wallet purchases every month
  • When you book eligible partner hotels through Citi Travel, receive daily breakfast for two, free Wi-Fi and up to $100 in experience credit

Our verdict

These polls do not guarantee that changes will be made, but it is a good guide that they should at least be seriously considered. The $100 Splurge credit basically covers the new annual fee increase, though I didn’t think the card was worth considering before. Dining credits and hotel credits will be useful for some, the dining credit will depend on where it is available. Dining/supermarket profit rates were also reduced. Again there are many variations of changes being considered, if you have taken this survey please share in the comments below.
