American Express has announced that starting June 30, 2026, it will no longer be possible to transfer American Express Membership Rewards points to Etihad. This is a complete removal, rather than a reduced transfer rate as we saw with Emirates.
It is still possible to transfer to Etihad from: Capital One, Bilt & Citi ThankYou at a 1:1 rate. We also sometimes see referral bonuses from those partners. It will be interesting to see if any of these flexible points programs will also lose Etihad as a transfer partner or not.
