Last year Hyatt announced that Chase Sapphire Premier & Chase Sapphire Reserve for business cardholders will be able to earn Hyatt Explorist status. This benefit is now available and requires $75,000 in spending for personal cardholders and $125,000 for business cardholders.
Once the spend is achieved, you receive status for the remainder of that calendar year and the following calendar year as well. Explorist normally requires 30 qualifying nights or 50,000 base points per calendar year and offers the following:
- 20% bonus on qualifying spend
- Room upgrades, excluding suites and rooms with club access (based on availability)
- Free premium internet (where available)
- Late payment (subject to availability in some countries)
Earning status through these cards doesn’t entitle you to any base points or qualifying nights, so it’s not useful for reaching Globalist. Chase cards earn the following fees:
- Personal card:
- 8x points on all purchases through Chase Travel, including The Edit
- 4x points on flights booked directly
- 4x points on hotels booked directly
- 3x points on dining worldwide
- 1x points on all other purchases
- Business card:
- 8x points on all purchases through Chase TravelSM, including The EditSM
- 5x points total on Lyft rides through 9/30/27
- 4x points on flights and hotels booked directly
- 3x points on social media and search engine ads
- 1x points on all other purchases
The Hyatt Explorist is nothing special and not worth the $75,000 asking price, but I think it’s still useful for people who are spending that much on naturals. Hopefully that means the new Chase Hyatt card is imminent.
