Amazon is offering a free 6-month trial of Amazon Prime to all youth ages 18-24 (regardless of student status) and for students of all ages. After the 6-month free trial, you’ll get 50% off the monthly cost of Prime.
You’ll also get 5% back on select purchases and 10% during Prime Day. And there are other benefits too.

- Amazon offers a 6-month free trial of Prime to young adultsages 18-24. You must verify your age with passport, license or similar. Students over 24 are also eligible.
- After the 6-month trial, the membership cost is reduced to just $7.49 per month (registration $14.99).
- Young Adult Accounts also get 5% cash back on select Amazon purchases all year longup to $100 per purchase and $500 per calendar year. Eligible products are identifiable by badges on the product search and detail pages. Eligible products are listed in the Beauty, Apparel, Electronics, Personal Care and Personal Computer product categories. Young adults can find their own cashback balance here.
- Amazon also has a special one ABOUT Prime Day 2026 (June 23-26) Young adult accounts will receive 10% back instead of the regular 5% return.

Our verdict
This can be a good way for families to save on their Prime membership if their child is willing to order them through the Young Adult account.
Not sure how wide the selection is for the 5%/10% cash back offer. The only way to tell would be to have a young adult account and see what comes up with the 5%/10% back badge. Currently eligible categories are: Beauty, Apparel, Electronics, Personal Care and Personal Computers.
10% on Prime Day can also be stacked with 10% back through the Amazon credit card that always appears on various items during the Prime Day season. Find all products that qualify for 10% back at this link.
Also, for a long time, Amazon has also offered 6 months of Prime for free + discount for students, even those older than 24 years. we wrote more about the benefits of Amazon Student in this dedicated post. Students do not get the 5% cashback, but all other benefits are the same.
