Bank of America and Alaska Air Group have announced an expansion of their partnership, including a multi-year extension of its joint partnership.. As part of this move, Atmos Rewards cards will move to a single card issuer. Bank of America previously issued Alaska Air cards and Barclays was the issuer for Hawaiian. Alaska has bought Hawaiian Airlines and the new charter changed the brand from Alaska Air to Atmos.
It’s not immediately clear from the press release whether this means Bank of America will buy the back book from Barclays for existing cardholders. We’ve reached out to Bank of America and Alaska for comment.
The release mentions increased investments in the Alaska and Hawaii hosting program and also enhancements to the credit card portfolio (including new cards and renewals of existing cards). It will be necessary to add the possibility of new cards in our tracker for 2026.
