Update 5/22/26: New email has been sent out saying the app and online app will no longer be available at the end of May. A stark contrast from the e-mail the media team sent me saying that ‘The card of the future is in the midst of a planned banking partner transition. We look forward to announcing our new partner soon, along with an even better one The card of the future experience’
Greetings
We regret to share that the Future app and web app will no longer be available after the end of May as we continue to work to find a way forward for Future.
Nearly four years ago, we set out to build America’s most useful debit card. We built tools to help our members increase their debt-free spending power and offered high cashback on everyday essentials that are more affordable and sustainable.
FutureCard was the first card to offer high cashback for taking the bus or subway, saving, saving with solar, saving on food and buying refurbished technology.
Most payments in America are still made with debit cards. We believed—and still believe—that you shouldn’t have to pay more for the essentials just because you don’t qualify for a high-rewards credit card, or because taking on debt and paying high interest just isn’t right for you.
Over the years, more than 100,000 card members joined Future and FutureCard enabled over 5 million purchases.
While the app and web app will no longer be available after May, you can still contact us at (email protected) at least until the end of June.
We appreciate you being a part of this journey and apologize again for the inconvenience. We know many of you rely on FutureCard for everyday purchases, and we don’t take that lightly.
Your future team
Update 3/23/26: Please note that in accordance with the Future Rewards Terms and Conditions, all rewards will cease to be earned as of March 23, 2026
FutureCard has sent an e-mail to users saying that they are switching to a new banking partner and existing accounts will be closed on April 23, 2026. The e-mail itself is strange as usually when it comes to changing banking partners they only give details about the new partner and in many cases the accounts themselves are transferred.
FutureCard added paid tiers late last yeari suspect this was either an attempt to become profitable or to keep the banking partner they had. I’d be surprised if FutureCard comes back in any meaningful form. The full email is as follows:
Thank you for being a valued member of the Future community. Future is changing the way we deliver value to members like you, with a lasting commitment to increasing your debt-free spending power.
We are in the process of switching to a new banking partner. As part of this transition, your current Piermont Bank-issued FutureCard Visa Debit Card and your Piermont Bank Future Checking Account will close on April 23, 2026. Stay tuned for details in the next FutureCard chapter.
We know our members rely on FutureCard for everyday expenses and we apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Please start making arrangements to update your direct deposit and any recurring bills or payments you currently pay with your FutureCard or checking account. For security, we ask that you remove or destroy your FutureCard after 23 April 2026. Please note that in accordance with the Future Rewards Terms and Conditions, all rewards will cease to be earned from 23 April 2026. Claim any unpaid rewards before 23 April 2020.
