it’s supposed that Google caused Android phones to transfer information to Google using user data without user permission. Google has denied any wrongdoing but has agreed to a $135 million settlement.
Who is eligible?
You are eligible if:
“you are: (1) a natural person in the United States who (2) used a mobile device using the Android operating system with a mobile data plan, (3) at any time between November 12, 2017 and the date this Agreement receives final approval, and (4) you are not a class member in Csupo v. Google LLC, Santa Clara County Superior Court, No. 19CV352557, which is a similar lawsuit involving California residents. If this describes you, you may be able to cash in on this Solution.”
You should have been notified if you are eligible and may be able to email any email address you use during this time to (email protected) to confirm eligibility if notification has not been received. Many readers received the notification in spam.
You can check if you have received it:
- Subject line: Notice of Class Action Settlement – Taylor v. Google LLC, Case no. 5:20-CV-07956-VKD (ND Cal.)
- Email from: (email protected)
How much?
The settlement fund is $135 million, but must also cover “(2) notice and administration costs; (3) attorneys’ fees, costs, and expenses; (4) service fees for class representatives, and (5) fees incurred by the Settlement Fund’. No estimate was given, but I would expect it to be low given the likely size of the class (100 million).
Important dates

- June 23, 2026 at 10:00 AM PDT: Final Approval Hearing
Our verdict
Again I suspect the settlement is low given the potential class size, but sometimes these surprise me, and unless you plan on getting yourself kicked out and seeking legal action of your own, I don’t see any great reason not to participate. Some other Google class actions:
