Webster’s Value Checking $11.95 Monthly Fee

This account has a monthly fee of $11.95, which is waived when you meet one of the following requirements during your monthly statement cycle:

• Maintain an average monthly balance of at least $1,000
• You are 65 or older and have at least one direct deposit
• Place at least 10 debit card purchases (PIN or signature) on your account during the statement period (ATM transactions do not qualify, nor do ATM-only card purchases).

Webster Premier Checking $21.95 monthly fee

This account has a monthly fee of $21.95, which is waived if you meet any of the following requirements during your monthly statement cycle:

• Maintaining $20,000 in average combined checking, money market, and savings balances during your monthly statement period
• Carrying $50,000 by adding CD, home equity and installment loan balances until the end of your statement period

Early account termination fee $15

If account is closed within 90 days, $15 is charged.

Our verdict

It would certainly be worth doing, but it’s a shame about the target language. I haven’t seen it in previous offers before, so I’m not sure if it applies or not. It’s great that no direct deposit is required, but a balance of $10,000 is required. Best case scenario you open the account in early June and then close it after the bonus posts. I would add this our best signup bonus site because of the good deal it is, but I won’t because of the target language.
