“Trump Accounts” Now Available to Sign Up (Includes Child Bonuses)

Update 7/10/26:

  • People have already received the $1,000 money for their children. The money started flowing in on the 4th of July.
  • You can still register now for children born between 2025 and 2028 – again, manual registration is required, the money does not come automatically.
  • The $250 Dell Cash is for select zip codes and only for children born between 2016 and 2024.
  • Updated some details in the post below. I am also opening the comments again. If it becomes unclear, we will close them again.

Update: Comments are now closed.

Original post 11/26/26:

Just a quick start: The new ‘Trump Account’ is now available to sign up for trumpaccounts.gov.

  • Children born between January 1, 2025 and December 31, 2028, with a valid Social Security number are eligible for a federal contribution of $1,000.
  • On a first-come, first-served basis, there is a $250 donation from the Dell family to children under 10 living in select zip codes (those with median income of $150,000 or less) who were born in 2016-2024.
  • There are some employers that also offer an account match.

IN trumpaccounts.gov you can find Form 4547 to fill out and make you eligible. I believe that form will put you in line for Dell’s money as well.

Some other details:

  • Parents or guardians can contribute up to $5,000 per year. Employer contributions of up to $2,500 are allowed and are not considered taxable income to the employee.
  • Note: many advise contributing to a 529 plan instead of this Trump account. That is, just take the free contribution and put any extra money into a 529. Please do your research on the details of each account.
  • The federal money is supposed to come in July. Not sure about Dell’s money.
  • You can look up the median income in your area in this connection. I checked a bunch of zip codes and it looks like almost all of them will qualify.

There’s no specific rush to sign up today for the $1,000 in federal money, but the Dell money may run out if you delay signing up.

Note, Dell Cash is for eligible children age 10 and older. This is different from the $1,000 federal money that is for children born in 2025-2028.

I’d really prefer if people could keep the discussion on point, but we might have to close the comments if it gets too politically insane. We are really posting this so people don’t miss out on the bonus for their kids.
