Our verdict
Many of us have free Walmart+ from various AmEx card benefits. Otherwise, these $49 deals are the way to go. Some people have a similar (non-stackable) AmEx offer to get $49 off $98. Try going through Swagbucks or BeFrugal for an extra $10 per membership.
