I have applied for a number of American Express cards over the years and have always been impressed with how quickly they got the card in hand. I often received the card early in the morning at my doorstep.
My recent card approval for the AmEx Business Gold card felt like an oddity – it took over a week from the time of approval via reconsideration until I received the card. My thought was that only the automated AmEx system has expedited shipping built into the workflow, not for approvals via reconsideration.
i see now report a host of Reddit users that lately they are getting slow card shipping on their new AmEx approvals. Many seem to be for the Platinum card mirror finish – maybe it takes more time to create the card finish.
Others reportgenerally, that AmEx has removed expedited shipping from Gold and other mid-tier cards, and that requesting expedited shipping won’t help either.

It is worth noting that American Express is very good at providing a card number issued immediately upon approval, and you can start using it immediately online, and you can add it to your digital wallet for in-store purchases.
